Moving forward seems impossible.
Getting out of bed in the morning feels too difficult. Your chest tightens with worry before you even open your eyes. You feel a heaviness you can’t quite explain; you feel lost, making life hard.
Overthinking makes it challenging for you to feel joy; instead, you feel numb or disconnected. You try to keep up in your daily life, but this quiet battle you’re fighting to get through the day is exhausting.
Anxiety and depression create a confusing and painful tug-of-war when they show up together. One moment, your mind is racing ahead, warning you of all that could go wrong. The next minute, it sinks into a hollow blah-ness, where nothing feels worth doing.
That tug of war makes you ask:
- “Why do I feel this way?”
- “Will it ever get better?”
- “What’s wrong with me?”
- “Do I deserve this for some reason?”
You are not alone. There is a way through.
When you have the tools, both anxiety and depression can be messengers, sacred invitations to investigate the stressful thoughts that give rise to your suffering.
Anxiety often comes with believing stressful thoughts about the future: “Something bad is going to happen.” “I (or They) won’t be able to handle it.” “I need to control this.”
Depression is linked with thoughts about the past: “I’ve failed.” “Things should’ve been different.” “I wasn’t good enough.”
Identifying the thoughts is a decisive step. Then you can ask, “Is it true?”
Let’s do The Work together.
I use a method of self-inquiry known as The Work of Byron Katie. The Work provides a specific way of inquiring that begins with noticing what you believe. It helps build compassion, insight, and self-awareness and opens your mind to new perspectives and options.
The Work is a simple process of self-inquiry involving four questions to ask yourself. Is it true? Can you absolutely know that it’s true? What happens, how do you react when you believe that thought?
Then, we turn the thought around and explore what comes up – not to replace the thought but to meet it with understanding.
This isn’t positive thinking; it is clear seeing. And in that clarity, something begins to shift. This path goes through so that you can arrive on the other side.
Here is a space for deep inquiry.
In our sessions, we will create a safe, compassionate space where you can slow down and notice. I’ll facilitate you through The Work, not to change you but to help you see what’s already true when you’re not at war with your thoughts.
Clients often describe a lightness that comes after inquiry – a sense of stillness and presence that was always available, hidden behind the noise of unquestioned beliefs.
And sometimes, maybe for the first time, they experience peace.
You don’t have to believe everything you think.
If you’re living with anxiety and/or depression, it can feel like being trapped in a loop you can’t get out of.
You don’t have to “cope” forever. You can get to the heart of the suffering and understand where it comes from.
Meet yourself with compassion that brings genuine transformation, where you can find peace beneath the storm.
Let’s sit with it all – the fear, the sadness, being stuck – and discover what’s true beneath it. The answers aren’t out there. They’re inside you, waiting to be uncovered.
I invite you to reach out now to get started.
