Here is a little about my story…
When I was a child, I witnessed my mom go through a transformation. She was unhappy with different aspects of her life, so she went to individual therapy, group therapy, psychology classes, workshops. She worked at it, and incredible change happened! Seeing her accomplish that was when I knew that was the work I wanted to do. I began reading personal development books when I was in elementary school. I wanted to understand the mind. I read about religions and spiritual practices. I was a peer counselor in high school. I studied psychology, religions, self-help tools continuously. I earned a bachelor’s then a master’s degree in psychology. And when I began working as a psychotherapist, I loved it and yet still felt like something was missing. I explored different therapy approaches, experienced various spiritual frameworks and religions. They each were useful in different ways but were not a comprehensive fit for me. Then The Work of Byron Katie came into my life, and I no longer felt like something was missing, my seeking stopped. It was like coming home. Over the years of being a licensed psychotherapist, since 2012, I’ve continued to learn and participate in trainings for different approaches such as intensives for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TEAM-CBT) with David Burns, MD; EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing); Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) with Dr. Jon Connelly; Brainspotting; couples therapy; and more. They each have been valuable. And when I experience any kind of stress in my life, when I want to feel better, I do The Work of Byron Katie. It’s a path that reliably leads me to peace and joy. And it can do the same for you, all it takes is an open mind.
